News

Ever since M&A Engineering was founded we have been trying to find ways to solve complex engineering problems whilst causing our customers the least possible downtime and disruption. We commonly work for customers in the marine, petrochemical and renewable energy industries (among others). For these customers, every minute that their equipment is de-commissioned costs them a significant amount in lost earnings.

We’ve identified many techniques and invested in state of the art equipment to make sure that we are able to keep this costly downtime to the absolute minimum.

One of the most important developments has been our standardised use of optical alignment equipment.

Without optical alignment equipment it is often necessary to stop the boring process, remove the boring equipment and then check the alignment is exactly right. These checks need to be made many times during the boring process, and if it’s a large boring job, this can add hours, or days, onto the time taken to complete the job. This added time means more expense for the customer and more costly downtime.

Optical alignment equipment allows us to take a ‘line of sight’ without removing the boring equipment. This reduces the amount of time spent checking the alignment of the bore to mere minutes.

Our on-site line boring equipment is capable of boring diameters from 58mm right up to 2m. Our state of the art optical alignment equipment allows us to machine at these diameters with the greatest possible accuracy and reduces downtime to an absolute minimum.

If you are interested to know more about our machining systems and processes, or if you’ve got a particular line boring job that you’d like to discuss with us, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
