Machining for the Renewable Energy Industry

Over the last ten years the demand for renewable energy has multiplied many times over. Governments, businesses and individuals are all choosing to invest in 'future proof' technologies that will provide cheaper energy and reduce our impact on our environment.

In response to this demand we have invested heavily in specialist on-site machining equipment and specialist training for our operatives to ensure that we are in a position to assist in the construction and maintenance of renewable energy sources and equipment.

Wind Turbines

One area which we are regularly asked to assist is in the maintenance of large wind turbines. These large structures, which are located in only the most exposed positions, regularly require maintenance. This may involve machining flanges, faces or bosses to ensure that the turbines are working as efficiently as possible.

One important consideration when carrying out this maintenance work is that for every hour that these turbines aren't being turned by the wind, our customers are losing money. To ensure that the downtime is reduced as much as possible, we've invested in a number of on-site machining options which allow us to complete all maintenance work, onsite, and in a matter of hours. We are able to machine diameters of up to 4.5m and can even work on large tower flanges without the need to transport the components to a workshop facility.

The importance of the renewable energy industry is only going to grow. At M&A Engineering we intend to make sure that we continue to invest in the best equipment and training to ensure that we continue to deliver an efficient and economical service as renewable energy sources continue to evolve.
