Welcome to the M & A Engineering Website. We are specialists in precision boring offering a wide range of services to Petrochemical, Marine and Energy industries.
Recent work we have carried out involving precision boring was aboard the S Y Adix which is a magnificent yacht that regularly competes in yachting events around the United Kingdom. This wonderful yacht which was constructed in Scotland is worth around £25m. The S Y Adix is currently housed in the Pendennis Yard in Cornwall.
The team aboard the yacht made a discovery that the shaft wasn't turning as it was meant to. With the experience the team have they immediately knew that precision boring was needed to remedy the issue. Knowing of the highly skilled team we have here at M & A Engineering they knew that we were the team that was able to carry out on-site work to ensure the yachts down time was brought to a minimum.
The S Y Adix is 65 metres or 213 feet long which meant that transporting it to a workshop facility where the specialist precision boring services could be carried out would be a major undertaking. This is one of the situations where our on-site machining services really show their worth. As soon as we were contacted our in-situ machining team readied all the necessary equipment and went down to Pendennis Yard in Cornwall with mobile precision boring equipment.
Our team carried out the necessary repairs as quickly as was possible to ensure that the S Y Team were caused as little disruption as possible in preparation for their next event.
A spokesperson for Pendennis said 'We expect the installation to be 100% improved with the M & A alignment and will not hesitate to use [their] services again.'
At M & A Engineering we are able to offer our clients a comprehensive range of precision boring equipment that is capable of machining bores as small as 50mm in diameter to larger than 2000mm in diameter. We only use state-of-the-art equipment which allows our line boring team to have line of sight through the bar when they are checking the alignment during the line boring process. By doing this there is no need for the removal of equipment during the process, saving time and money for both ourselves and our clients.
